8/26/2026-Michael Pavelchak of the Martinez Sturgeon has been named the 2026 Pecos League Pacific Division Hitter of the Year after an outstanding season that helped lead the Sturgeon to the Pacific Division Championship.

Pavelchak, a former Vallejo Seaweed standout, emerged as one of the most productive hitters in the Pacific Division during the 2026 season. The Martinez outfielder finished the regular season with a .411 batting average, collecting 85 hits in 207 at-bats over 48 games. He scored an impressive 70 runs while adding 12 doubles, four triples, one home run and 36 RBIs. He also drew 40 walks and stole 34 bases.

Pavelchak's ability to consistently reach base was one of his greatest strengths. He finished the season with a .522 on-base percentage, giving Martinez a constant threat at the top of its lineup.

His impact extended well beyond the regular season. Pavelchak helped lead the Martinez Sturgeon to the 2026 Pacific Division Championship, as Martinez swept the San Rafael Pacifics two games to none in the Pacific Division Championship Series. In the championship-clinching 8-3 victory at Albert Park, Pavelchak led the Martinez offense with three hits, two runs scored and two stolen bases.

Pavelchak produced several huge offensive performances during the season. On July 19 against the Austin Weirdos, he went 4-for-6 with a double, triple, home run and five RBIs in a 20-2 Martinez victory.

He continued to produce when Martinez reached the Pecos League Championship Series against the Garden City Wind. In Game 1, Pavelchak went 3- for-5 with a double and two runs scored, helping the Sturgeon build an early lead before Garden City rallied for an 8-7 victory.

From his ability to hit for average and reach base to his speed and run-scoring ability, Pavelchak was a driving force behind one of the most successful seasons in Martinez Sturgeon history.

After helping lead Martinez to the Pacific Division title, Michael Pavelchak has been named the 2026 Pecos League Pacific Division Hitter of the Year.
