Pacifics Score Eight in Eighth to Defeat Sturgeon

May 27 2023 The San Rafael Pacifics defeated the Martinez Sturgeon 17-5 at Albert Park. San Rafael collected 15 hits and scored in five innings while Martinez finished with four hits and five errors. San Rafael built an early lead with one run in the first inning and four in the second. The Pacifics added one run in the fourth and three in the seventh before breaking the game open with an eight-run eighth inning. Martinez scored once in the third and sixth innings, twice in the seventh and once in the eighth. Kevin Johnson led the Pacifics with three hits including a home run and six RBI. Tyler Georgeson added two hits including a home run and four RBI while Nick Smith went 3-for-6 with three doubles and scored twice. Eric Parnow scored three runs and drove in one, and Kohto Hasegawa contributed two hits and an RBI. Hasegawa earned the win after allowing one run on one hit with six strikeouts and no walks over five innings. Simon Martinez and Chris Johnson completed the victory for San Rafael. Harrison Aiken took the loss for Martinez after allowing five earned runs in one inning.
