Dublin Leprechauns Hold Off Martinez Sturgeon 14-11

June 6 2023 The Dublin Leprechauns defeated the Martinez Sturgeon 14-11 at Doyle Park, overcoming 16 Martinez hits with a 14-hit offensive performance. Dublin scored twice in the first inning and added five runs in the second to take a 7-3 lead. The Leprechauns also scored once in the fifth, twice in the sixth and four times in the seventh. Martinez pulled within 9-5 after five innings and surged ahead with a six-run sixth inning, but Dublin answered with its four-run seventh to regain a 13-11 lead. The Leprechauns added another run in the eighth and held Martinez scoreless in the final two innings shown in the box score. Both teams were charged with two errors. Jackson Kea led Martinez by going 5-for-5 with two home runs, two runs and two RBI. Nick Adgar drove in four runs and hit a home run, while Cain Agis also homered twice and collected two RBI. Sam Freedman added three hits, including two doubles, and scored twice. Joel Paulino paced Dublin with three hits, a home run and four RBI. Kyle Montebon and Arnold Dominquez each recorded three hits, while Isaiah Lewis drove in two runs and Josue Rivera scored twice. Meltavis Robertson earned the win after allowing one run on three hits with five strikeouts over 2.2 innings. Troy Whittey was credited with the loss.
