Martinez Sturgeon Rally Past Lancaster Sound Breakers 13-9

June 12 2023 The Martinez Sturgeon overcame an early deficit with a seven-run seventh inning and defeated the Lancaster Sound Breakers 13-9. Martinez finished with seven hits while Lancaster collected 12. Both teams were charged with five errors.

Lancaster built an 8-5 lead through five innings after scoring four runs in the second and three more in the fourth. Martinez answered with a run in the sixth before breaking the game open with seven runs in the seventh. Lancaster added one run in the eighth but could not complete the comeback.

Tony Riley powered the Martinez offense by going 4-for-4 with a double a home run and five RBI. Nick Adgar scored twice and drove in a run while Sam Freedman and Jackson Kea also contributed RBI. For Lancaster Jacob Jablonski went 2-for-3 with three RBI and Kyle Jenkins added three RBI. Christian Quezada collected three hits and Andrew Castano had two hits and two RBI.

Isaiah Chavez earned the win for Martinez after recording the final out of the eighth inning without allowing a hit or a run. Troy Whitty delivered 3 1/3 scoreless innings with five hits allowed while striking out none. Lancaster starter Andrew Moore worked six innings and allowed nine runs seven earned while striking out eight. JJ Holiday took the loss after two innings in relief.
