Martinez Sturgeon Outslug Dublin Leprechauns 16-10

June 14 2023 The Martinez Sturgeon defeated the Dublin Leprechauns 16-10 at Waterfront Park. Martinez collected 15 hits and scored in seven innings, while Dublin finished with 10 hits and 10 runs. The Sturgeon also capitalized on a five-run third inning and another five-run fifth to build a 14-4 advantage.

Nick Adgar went 3-for-3 with five runs scored, two home runs, two RBIs and three walks for Martinez. Sam Freedman added three hits, two home runs, two runs and five RBIs, while Tony Riley contributed a home run, two RBIs and two walks. Jackson Kea had two hits and two RBIs, and Eric Whitfield drove in two runs.

Dublin’s offense was led by Josue Rivera, who went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs, and Arnold Dominquez, who had two hits, a home run and three RBIs. Mark Jacob added one hit and two RBIs. The Leprechauns scored five times in the sixth inning and once in the ninth but could not overcome the deficit.

Colt Powledge earned the win for Martinez after allowing seven runs on seven hits with six walks and five strikeouts over 5.1 innings. Craig Broadman followed with 1.1 scoreless innings and two strikeouts. Christian Zellner took the loss for Dublin after surrendering nine runs, eight earned, on nine hits in three innings.
