Martinez Sturgeon Defeat Dublin Leprechauns 16-7 July 1 2023

July 1 2023 The Martinez Sturgeon defeated the Dublin Leprechauns 16-7 at Waterfront Park, scoring in seven of the first eight innings. Martinez collected 13 hits and took control with a three-run first inning, a three-run second and another three-run fourth before adding two runs in the fifth, four in the sixth and one in the seventh.

Eric Whitfield led the Sturgeon offense with two hits, three runs and five RBIs, including two home runs. Luke Johnson went 3-for-5 with three runs and one RBI, while Cain Agis added three hits, two runs and three RBIs. Nick Adgar and Sam Freedman also homered, with Adgar scoring three runs and stealing two bases.

Dublin scored four times in the first inning and added single runs in the fifth, sixth and ninth, but could not keep pace. Josue Rivera hit a home run and drove in three runs, while Ashanti Ross went 4-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Kyle Montebon collected three hits, scored once and added a home run and one RBI.

Colt Powledge earned the win for Martinez after allowing six hits and six runs, four earned, in six innings. He struck out 10 and walked four. Craig Broadman followed with two scoreless innings, and Wyatt Rowland took the loss for Dublin after surrendering five runs in 1.1 innings.
