San Rafael Pacifics Rally Past Martinez Sturgeon 7-6

July 5 2023 The San Rafael Pacifics rallied for a 7-6 victory over the Martinez Sturgeon after scoring twice in the top of the ninth inning. The teams were tied 5-5 after six innings before San Rafael’s late push secured the win.

Grant Victor and John Bicos each homered for San Rafael. Victor finished 1-for-3 with three runs and one RBI, while Bicos went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Kyle Guerra added a hit, two walks and two RBI, and Kevin Johnson contributed a hit and one RBI as the Pacifics finished with seven hits.

Cain Agis led Martinez with a 3-for-3 performance, two home runs, three runs and three RBI. Luke Johnson and Tony Riley also homered, with Riley adding a triple, as the Sturgeon collected nine hits. Martinez scored once in each of the first two innings, added two runs in the fourth and matched San Rafael with two runs in the sixth, but was held scoreless in the final three innings.

San Rafael starter Josh Idell allowed nine hits and six runs over 6.2 innings while striking out seven. Austin Fitzpatrick earned the win with 2.1 hitless innings, allowing one walk and striking out two. Harrison Aiken took the loss for Martinez despite completing nine innings, surrendering seven hits and seven runs with four walks and seven strikeouts.
