San Rafael Pacifics Edge Martinez Sturgeon 14-13

July 18 2023 The San Rafael Pacifics rallied past the Martinez Sturgeon 14-13 in an eight-inning offensive battle at Albert Park. San Rafael overcame a 15-7 disadvantage in hits to secure the victory, with both teams committing two errors.

Martinez built an early lead with one run in the first, two in the second and two more in the fourth before breaking a 5-5 tie with four runs in the fifth. The Sturgeon added three runs in the seventh and one in the eighth, but San Rafael answered with five runs in the third, two in the fourth, and single runs in the fifth and sixth. The Pacifics then scored twice in both the seventh and eighth innings to complete the comeback.

Luke Johnson led Martinez by going 3-for-4 with four runs, one RBI, a home run and a stolen base. Dave Kyriacou and Nick Adgar each had two hits, three runs and three RBIs, while Eric Whitfield collected three hits and one RBI. Martinez also received home runs from Jackson Kea and Kyriacou, giving the Sturgeon four homers in the game.

Tyler Georgeson paced San Rafael with two hits, three runs and three RBIs. Nick Smith added two RBIs, while Kevin Johnson, Grant Victor, John Bicos and pinch-hitter Beau Dorman also drove in runs. Dorman homered and went 1-for-1 with a run and an RBI.

Austin Fitzpatrick earned the win for San Rafael after allowing four runs, three earned, on four hits in three innings, with one walk and two strikeouts. Gabriel Rojas took the loss for Martinez after recording two outs and allowing two runs on two hits with three walks and one strikeout. San Rafael used three pitchers, while Martinez used five.
