Sturgeon Roll Past Seaweed 10-3

June 1 2024 The Martinez Sturgeon defeated the Vallejo Seaweed 10-3 behind a 19-hit offensive performance. Martinez scored four runs in the second inning, added five in the fifth and one in the sixth to pull away after Vallejo opened with a run in the first and added single runs in the third and eighth innings. Vallejo finished with seven hits.

Tony Riley went 3-for-5 with two runs, three RBI, a triple and a home run for Martinez. Andrew Curran added two hits, two runs and three RBI, including two home runs and a double. Erik Whitfield and Austin Micheli each collected three hits, while Tyler Best reached base twice with two walks.

Chris Kenney earned the win after allowing two hits and no runs in 1.1 innings. Trace Hitchens struck out three while working two scoreless innings, and Jesue Rivera added four strikeouts over three innings. Vallejo starter Fred Seto took the loss after surrendering 15 hits and nine earned runs in five innings.
