Sturgeon Rally Past Seaweed 6-4

June 11 2024 The Martinez Sturgeon scored four runs in the eighth inning to defeat the Vallejo Seaweed 6-4. Martinez finished with 11 hits, while Vallejo collected five. The Sturgeon overcame an early deficit after Vallejo scored once in the first inning, then added two runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to take a 4-2 lead.

Tony Riley led Martinez with two hits and two RBI, including a double, while Austin Micheli added two hits and an RBI. Jackson Kea went 3-for-3, and Jesue Rivera had a pinch-hit single and scored a run. Vallejo’s Jamaiz Hunt had a triple and two RBI, and Ike Brown added an RBI.

Ryan Cormier earned the win after allowing four runs on five hits in seven innings with six walks and two strikeouts. Dustin Hernandez worked a scoreless eighth, and Gabriel Rojas struck out three in a hitless ninth to record the save. Christian Zellner took the loss for Vallejo after giving up five runs on nine hits in seven innings.
