Martinez Sturgeon Outlast San Rafael Pacifics 14-13

June 28 2024 The Martinez Sturgeon held off the San Rafael Pacifics 14-13 in a high-scoring game at Albert Park. Martinez finished with 20 hits and no errors while San Rafael collected 14 hits and committed four errors.

Martinez built an early 4-0 lead in the first inning, but San Rafael answered with five runs in the fourth and added three in the fifth to take control. The Pacifics led 13-12 after seven innings before the Sturgeon scored once in the eighth and once in the ninth to reclaim the lead and secure the win. Martinez also scored three runs in the fourth and four in the seventh.

Tyler Best led Martinez by going 4-for-4 with two home runs, three RBI, four runs and three walks. Isaiah Clark added three hits, two runs and two walks, while Tony Riley had three hits and an RBI. San Rafael’s Esai Santos went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs, and Mark Hernandez collected two hits and three RBI. Elijah Pacheco-Martinez earned the win after allowing two hits in a scoreless inning, and Gabriel Rojas recorded the save with a hitless ninth inning. Caleb Davis took the loss for San Rafael.
