Train Robbers Outslug Sturgeon 22-11

July 23 2024 The Bakersfield Train Robbers defeated the Martinez Sturgeon 22-11 after collecting 20 hits and scoring in five innings. Bakersfield built a 13-7 lead through three innings, then broke the game open with seven runs in the eighth. Martinez finished with 12 hits and scored four runs in the first inning, three in the second, three in the fourth and one in the eighth.

Joe Riddle led Bakersfield by going 4-for-4 with a home run and seven RBI. Noah McCreary went 4-for-5 with five runs scored and two RBI, while Paul Von Zboray added three hits, a home run and five RBI. Sebastian Trinidad scored four runs and drove in one, and Isaiah Mirabal hit a three-run home run.

Andrew Curran supplied Martinez with two hits, two home runs and five RBI. Caleb Natov went 3-for-4 with two RBI, and Jon Fargnoli collected four hits, a double and two RBI. Isaiah Clark added two hits and two RBI for the Sturgeon.

Kyle Langston earned the win for Bakersfield despite allowing 10 runs on nine hits in five innings; only three of the runs were earned. He struck out six and walked one. Jalyn Lee followed with three innings of one-run relief, allowing three hits while striking out four, and Daxton Tinker closed with a hitless inning and two strikeouts. Martinez starter Ryan Cormier took the loss after allowing eight earned runs on six hits in 1 1/3 innings.
