May 23 2025 The Dublin Leprechauns defeated the Martinez Sturgeon 5-4 after scoring four runs in the fourth inning and adding the go-ahead run in the seventh. Dublin finished with four hits while Martinez collected six, but the Leprechauns held on for the one-run victory.
Martinez opened the scoring with one run in the first inning. Dublin responded with four runs in the fourth, with
Antonio Riley,
Drew Bayard,
Gordon Wend and
Donnie Gardiner each recording an RBI in the game. The Sturgeon answered with three runs in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game at 4-4 before Dublin scored the deciding run in the seventh.
Bayard went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI, while Riley went 1-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Wend also contributed a hit, a run and an RBI, and Gardiner drove in a run.
Chris Alfonseca reached base twice, scored once and stole two bases.
Gordon Wend earned the win with a complete-game effort, allowing six hits and four earned runs in nine innings. He walked two and struck out seven while throwing 132 pitches, including 82 strikes.
Lucas Climer took the loss for Martinez after allowing two runs in 3 1/3 innings, and
Wataru Kumagai allowed three runs in 4 2/3 innings.
